notes: Rare performance of 'Out Ta Get Me' as the opener. Axl mentions how badly GN'R & Metallica wanted this tour to happen and that most bands are unwilling to tour with GN'R. Axl dedicates 'Civil War' to the state of Arizona in hopes that they one day recognize Martin Luther King Day as a state holiday. Slash plays the same guitar riff before 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door' as he played before 'Down On The Farm' at Farm Aid IV in Indianapolis on April 7th, 1990.

Guns N' Roses was the greatest thing that happened to the 80's and this is proof.
This audience is pretty good sounding and unedited, it brings you back to GN'R's golden era, right after the release of their debut album "Appetite for Destruction", still regarded by most critics as one of the best and most influential hard rock disc.
Very energetic performance by GN'R, the sound is not excellent but for an audience it's very listenable.
The 2nd CD is actually a gig that happened in 1988-01-05 in Santa Monica, CA.

Guns N' Roses - 1987-10-08 - London, England

If you ever want to know what a GN'R gig was like before the band and their respective egos became huge and out of control, you need to grab this bootleg.
It was recorded in 1987 in London at the famous Marquee club and it captures the raw energy of the band when they were still five misfits living a reckless life and chasing success. This was recorded in the audience but the sound is excellent, a conservative grade would be A- but I'd rate this one A. This is the true essence of GN'R, unpredictable and dangerous. No 10 minutes pause between songs, no endless solos, no lengthy rants by Axl Rose (although I must say I got used to it and I'm almost disappointed when Axl doesn't take 20 minutes of the show to spit venom at someone): just 16 awesome songs played back to back, no bullshit and pure rock n' roll.
This show and the other Marquee show remastered by Alan Niven are the best testimony of why GN'R was the best hard rock band of the decade and why Appetite for Destruction will forever remain a true classic that hasn't been topped since.

It's 1992 and GN'R is the biggest band in the world. The band released their "Use your Illusion" double album a year ago and is embarked on a lengthy tour around the globe.
This particular concert was played in front of 60.000 people and broadcasted worldwide on MTV.
Not a bad show, but far from their best performance. When you compare this to the 1980s shows it's like  listening to a different band. Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin aren't in tbe band anymore (replaced by Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke), GN'R now plays with backup singers, a horn section, and two keyboardists.
The dispensable and endless solos and the long pauses between songs (due to commercial breaks) don't help either.
Axl Rose makes his usual pre Double Talkin' Jive speech, Warren Beatty being Roses's target this time (for allegedly hitting on Rose's wife Stephanie Seymour), Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz join the band to play on 3 songs and Slash shows the rest of the world how to really play guitar.
